Behind the Name

So, the blog tagline is:

artist, creator, mum, (almost wife), writer, tabletop gamer, nature lover, feminist, supporter of lgbt community and equality.

What more is there to know?

Well, at the time of starting this blog, (Summer 2019), I am 28, living with my partner Gareth, 37, and our various tiny humans. Alfie is 8, Max is 7 and Gareth is their stepdad. Oscar is 2 months old right now, and Gareth is his dad.

We live in Southend, Essex, a sweet little town on the estuary of the River Thames. The primary school is round the corner, at which the boys have lots of friends who come over for dinner often, and we have made parent-friends too.

Nearby, we have the town centre, beach, parks and playgrounds, woods, countryside, and direct links to London.

Gareth works in a charity organisation, helping long term unemployed people. I used to work in accounts, in the construction industry, until my last job ended during my pregnancy with Oscar in 2018. I decided to change career path and use that time during pregnancy and my maternity time to get Natural Causes Art off the ground!

Life is kinda hectic right now, with two boys and a baby but being able to have a break from regular employment is helpful. I am at home with Oscar during the day on weekdays, collecting the other two from school and trying to fit in some art creating along with housework, baby feeding and the rest of it! I’m loving it at the moment, though it is a challenge, and I can’t get as much art done as I was doing during pregnancy!

In our house, we all have varied interests, (even the boys!) and some of these include:

Nature

Superheroes

Dinosaurs

Tabletop games (ttrpg/board games)

Xbox gaming

Comic books

History and Mythology

Reading

Art

Photography

Crafting

Organisation hacks

DIY

Gardening

Films

Cooking

Healthy living

Aiming to become self-sustaining

Baby care and parenting

So, these are likely to be the topics of future blog posts, and I hope there’s something in there to interest most people!
