Day Two of Self-Isolation

The day started for me with middle kid jumping out at me as I left the bathroom and saying ‘Mum! Can we paint my shield now?’. Despite the fact that when me and big kid did it yesterday, and he didn’t want to, he now was desperate to paint his wooden shield that we got from the British Museum ages ago!

Big kid got himself a tech ban for raging at the Xbox before I’d even got out of bed. At 9.30, Baby O decided to have his after lunch nap, because he was left in his playpen alone for a bit. He’s obviously getting a bit poorly again; he’s super tired and snotty and has big eye bags, but for a few days he was much better, no coughing, no eye bags etc.

G and I are still feeling this illness (still unsure if it’s Corona, flu, cold or whatever) but mostly a cough and blocked nose, and tiredness.

We ordered a shopping delivery on Thursday which arrived today from ASDA. I first tried tesco and they had no delivery slots til Wednesday! Most of what we ordered arrived, including toilet roll and baby formula (in normal amounts). There was no pasta online so it was lucky we didn’t need any.

Today we have relaxed the schedule for the kids and we didn’t do any English and maths. We did paint the next layer of their wooden shields, me and middle M practised his guitar which he got for his birthday. G and big A painted some miniatures, and everyone has spent some time playing with baby O.

Baby O confidently walks now!

The plan for tomorrow is much the same, and we’re all doing well at the moment and coping with being indoors. We didn’t go out in the garden today but that means we probably will tomorrow, even just for a little bit. Spaghetti bolognese for dinner today, and a nice full snack box for everyone, which I am guarding and rationing, because I will die if I we run out of snacks and I can’t go to the shop and buy them 😂

Still managing to be slightly productive on the work front. I finished a commission for my mother in law (to be), and have been paid despite self isolation meaning she can’t actually have her paintings yet. They are two big square canvases with grey backgrounds and a blue peony style flower to match her guest bedroom colour scheme. I will add photos to the blog when I have given her the paintings and she allows it.

I’ve since made some digital art pieces for prints and ordered five of each to begin with, totally 45 prints. I found a great website for art prints and this is the first time using it so I’m excited to see how the prints turn out!

I have also bought some samples to proof my designs from spoonflower, as I had many patterns I had designed for fabrics and these have to be proofed before they can be put up for sale. These and the prints should be arriving soon, although probably after self isolation has ended! I’m so excited to see them all and get some new items up for sale in my Etsy (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Naturalcausesart ) and on spoonflower! I haven’t sold through spoonflower before, nor have I designed fabric before so I’m very excited for new avenues at the moment!

I hope anyone else who is self isolating is coping, making the most of their time and using it to find things they enjoy again or just to have the time to do the things they’ve wanted to and put off for a while!

See you again for an update tomorrow!
