Today I started weight watchers. I had been trying to make myself a weight loss plan. I just can’t stick to it. I can’t be sure that it will work so it doesn’t give me enough motivation. So I decided to look into the ready made plans and resources that are out there.
I chose weight watchers. I wanted online resources. I HATE the idea of a public weigh in and meetings. I wouldn’t go. I certainly don’t want to pay for that. I want a plan that I can stick to, without being too strict on what to eat or calorie counting or whatever, and lots of recipe ideas.
I happened to decide to look on the day that weight watchers were doing a sign up offer of no payment for the first 3 months. It will cost £15/month after that for another 6 months and then it is a monthly rolling subscription. My partner agreed that the terms were suitable so I signed up!
Today is my first day but I signed up at 5pm so I’ll start tracking tomorrow. I’ve set up the app, added my starting weight, set up my health app on my phone to track activity and sleep. The app looks great so far.
Apparently I’m on ‘blue’ plan. I get 23 points to spend on foods per day, plus a whole bunch of zero point foods, including white meats, fish, fruit, veg eggs, and dairy. There are lots of meal plans and recipes to check out and I’m going to compile a list of things to buy to start with (such as something I’ve seen mentioned in a few recipes – calorie controlled cooking spray – we use veg oil!).
I’m feeling optimistic about using the plan. I will have to find a way to integrate it with what the kids eat. They won’t eat all of the same meals as me on this plan. And they will still want their unhealthy snacks 😉 so the shopping list will get a bit more complicated. But we’ll adjust as we go.
At the start of my weight loss journey I need to lose 4 Stone. I want to join the police one day, and for that I need a good level of fitness. Even if that doesn’t happen, I don’t feel good about myself or healthy being 4-5stone overweight. I also need to drop 4 dress sizes to feel happy with myself. Get back to the body I used to have.
So here’s to weight watchers and my journey beginning!
